Safety measures apply to air carriers that limit the acceptance of liquids in cabin. We suggest that you place all your liquids in your checked baggage.
The following are considered liquid: gels, doughy substances, lotions and contents of pressure containers such as: toothpaste, hair gel, drinks, soups, syrups, perfumes, shaving foam, aerosols and any other item of similar consistency.
- Duty free purchases at airport shops:
If your first flight departs from a European Union country and your second flight departs from a European airport (or from Norway, Iceland or Switzerland):
Articles purchased at the airport of departure will be allowed through safety checks when transiting provided they are placed in a sealed plastic bag with the purchasing ticket.
If your first flight departs from a non-European country and your second flight from a European country (or from Norway, Iceland or Switzerland):
Articles purchased outside a European Union airport will be confiscated during safety checks when transiting.
- Purchases on board:
If your article was purchased onboard a European airline aircraft, no matter where it departed, it will be allowed when transiting in another European Union country, provided it is placed in a sealed bag along with the onboard purchasing ticket.
No liquid purchased on duty free in airport shops or onboard an aircraft will be allowed during security checks at departure from Japan.
